About Akcent

Akcent is pronounced as accent. It is a Romanian dance pop act. The group sings in English, Spanish, Polish and Romanian. The founder of the group is Adrian Sina. In 1998, Ramona Barta joined Adrian Sina creating a duo named Akcent. The duo released their debut album “Sezatia – The Sensation” with their first single entitled “Ultima Vara” or “Last Summer”. They also released their first single in nationwide radio stations.

After the release of their album, the duo part ways and Sina recruited Mihai Gruia, Marius Nedelcu and Sorin Brotnei. The duo became a boy band. Their breakthrough single was “Ti-am Promis” or “I Promised You.” And their album as a band entitled “In Culori” was released in 2002. Their breakthrough single was able to reach the Top 100 in Rome. In three weeks, their album received a Gold Award, and then months later, they received the Platinum Award. The boy band also won different awards with MTV Romania.

In 2003, the group’s next album was “100 BPS”. Their top single of the album was “Buchet the Trandafiri” or “Bunch of Roses.” Then they also released another album entitled “Poveste de viata” or “Life Story.” Their hit songs were “Spune-mi” or “Hey Baby!” and “Dragoste de inchiriat” or “Love for Rent.” Their international breakthrough was achieved when they released “Love for Rent” as “Kylie”. The song was able to be top charts in Europe as well as in France and Netherlands. The group joined in the contest “Selectia Nationala” to represent Rome in “Eurovision Song Contest.” They also produced the song “Jockero” featuring Nicoleta Matei. In 2006, the group released their first English album entitled “French Kiss with Kylie.”

In 2008, Sina produced the album “Fara Lacrimi” or “No Tears”, with international singles “That’s My Name”, “Lover’s Cry” and “Stay With Me”. A year later, Sina also produced the album “True Believers.” It is their most popular and successful album. Their album included their singles “That’s My Name”, “Tears”, “Lover’s Cry” and “Stay With Me”. The group won Best Duet/Group in Belkan Music Awards. In 2011, they signed a recording deal with Robbins Entertainment. Their single “My Passion” was released in US. The it was followed by “Feelings on Fire.” Then a year later, their single “I’m Sorry” featuring Sandra N. was released. Later that year, “Chimie Intre Noi” or “Chemistry Between Us” was released. And the group had scheduled sold out tickets in New York and Chicago.
