About Григорий Лепс

Girgory Leps was born on the 16th of July 1962 in Russia. Leps was able to study in a music school focusing on Percussion instruments. He was also drafted to join the military service. After his military season, he pursued his passion in being a musician. He played and sang in restaurants and joined other rock bands. With the culture in his place, he was exposed with too much alcohol and got addicted to drugs. To rehabilitate himself, he moved to Moscow. He continued singing in different restaurants and got discovered.

1995. “May God Keep You” became his first album. His hit single “Natali” became a big hit, but Leps was not able to celebrate it. He was treated in the hospital for drug and alcohol abuse. He became very ill that the doctors stated that one more intake of drugs can cause his death.

1997. His second album “A Whole Life” was released. And three years after, 2000, his third album “Thank You People” was released. Through his songs, he proved that he had a changed life and a change of music. 2000 was a rollercoaster year for Leps. He met Anya, a ballet dancer who later became his wife. That same year Leps went through an operation because he lost his voice.

2002. After treating his vocal chords, two years after, he released his fourth album “On Strings of Rain.”

2004. He is making cover songs by Vladimir Vysotsky, transforming Vysotsky’s song to a rock version. The cover of the single “Parus” was released with a music video.

2005. “Izbranoye... 10 let” was a compilation album released by Leps. The following year, 2006, he was able to release two successful album, “Labirint” and “Vyuga” Due to his success, he conducted a sold out concert in Luzhniki Stadium.

2007. Leps created two more compilation albums, “I’m Alive” and “All My Life” Then two years later, he presented his “Waterfall” album.

2011. Leps scheduled three major concerts promoting his album “Pince-nez”
Leps is known for his low growling voice and focuses on making his rock and pop music. Leps was separated with Svetlana Dubinskaya before marrying wife Anya. Grigory and Anya have two daughters, Eva and Nicole, and a son Ivan. Leps is a collector of books and sunglasses.

2013. Leps was blacklisted by the US department due to his alleged connection with a criminal group. He was accused of being involved with the Brothers’ Circle.
